INFLUENCES AND EQUIPMENT

A lot of my influences are from my parents, who used to play me a lot of different artists growing up. They still continue to introduce me to new songs and artists constantly, either directly or indirectly when playing their music. These include The Beatles, Coldplay, Charlie Puth, George Michael, Gary Barlow, James Taylor and Stevie Wonder.

I've been very fortunate to have seen a lot of my songwriting heroes and artistic inspirations growing up, with Simply Red, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Sting, Take That and Billy Joel.

In terms of equipment, my first acoustic guitar was a Ibanez PF15, which my parents bought for my school guitar lessons. My main guitar is an electro-acoustic Guild D-120, which I uses live, alongside a Fender American Special Stratocaster. I bought a Squier Precision Bass in Brighton, when I went to see Simply Red. Growing up, my Mum had her own Yamaha Clavinova CVP-403, which I taught myself to play keys on.

I've saved up for a small home studio and instruments for some time. To see an extensive list of what what equipment I use, checkout my Equipboard here: https://equipboard.com/gregjohnson?src=feed
